About PCS / Painting Consultant Services
PCS opening in Brentwood Tennessee in 1987, offers DIYers and those starting out in a career in painting, the assistance and real-world understanding of proper paints and coatings, surface preparation, and the application process. In the 70's, Gary Sutton grew up working in his family’s paint contracting business where he learned surface preparation and paint application the hard way. In 1987, Gary began working for the technical services department of a major paint and coating manufacturer writing specifications, paint and coating selection, and paint failure analysis. There he learned more about the composition of the products he had applied, how they protect, and which products to use to beautify, and for asset protection. Gary has been a two-term SSPC chapter chairman and an SSPC convention speaker. His knowledge and years of rich experience ensure the promise that PCS is capable of assisting you with all of your project and training needs.

Gary Sutton’s expertise is built on a solid foundation which includes the following:

- Experienced in failure analysis and analytical laboratory testing
- Decades of managerial involvement in the paint and coatings industry
- Mentoring hundreds of successful paint applicators
- Hands-on work experience in the contracting world
- Multiple certifications as well as NACE Coating Inspection and SSPC Concrete Coating Basics and Application Inspection, GRACO, SIKKENS, and FLUID MANAGEMENT.
- Color Matching (Manual & Computer Color Eye), and, Paint & Industrial Coating Tinting.
- Former ASTM Sub-Committee Chairman D01.61 Paint Application Tools, and ASTM D01.90 Executive Committee Member .
