Gary Sutton’s roots in the industry go back to the 1970s, when he learned the trade firsthand in his family’s paint contracting business.

His career expanded in 1987 when he joined the technical services department of a major paint and coatings manufacturer. There, he developed specifications, guided product selection, and investigated paint failures—work that gave him a deeper understanding of how coatings are formulated, how they protect surfaces, and how to choose the right products for beauty and durability.
